While photographing the red deer rut in Lyme Park in Cheshire this morning I took lots of images of stags bellowing but as just about everybody else has already posted photos of stags bellowing I won't bore you with yet another
This was the first time I have seen the rut, the first time I have seen a doe suckling and the first time I have seen a stag showing the Flehmen response to see if the doe is on heat. This image is not being shown for technical critique, although it will be welcome, but rather as a record of a natural occurance (which is what I try to capture as a nature photographer).
We also saw large mixed flocks of fieldfares and redwings and two large skeins of geese flying over, autumn is certainly here now!
Canon EOS 40D
Canon 300mm L F4 lens with 1.4 extender
Giottos monopod
1/1600 sec
f6.3
400 ISO
Slight exposure tweeking in DPP
Resize and slight crop all round in PS CS2
