Slightly OT: Mt Rainier
Courtesy of a morning flight on Frontier Airlines. For the first time in a number of flights, I got a window that wasn't scratched.

I love the comp here. Even the light is great with the haze in the background. The colors seem off on my monitor (unless you were going for that effect). I assume that's St. Helens on the right and Adams on the left. Thanks for posting.

The comp is great with fantastic layering adding depth to the image-only nit is the blue. :toast:

Apparently they traded the scratches for a thick blue tint. For that reason you might consider b&w for this one. But what a great perspective!

Years ago I flew out of Sea-Tac right before sunset. The pilot announced the close-up view of Rainier, and sure enough, there it was, right below us, catching the rich warm light of sunset. I turned to say something to my girlfriend, and when I looked back at Rainier, I was now looking UP at its summit. Being the fearful flier that I was, I was convinced the plane was going down. I never knew why we dropped in altitude, but apparently it was routine.

What a magnificent bird's eye view! I never get this fortunate when flying. :frown:

The color balance looks very blue on my monitor but I actually really like the effect! It would make a good B&W too, but I think it's pretty cool as-is. That's definitely St. Helens to the right in the distance but I believe it's Mt. Hood on the left side. Mt Adams would be visible from this view too, just to the left of Hood, except it is just outside of the image frame.

Aside from the blue color already mentioned this is outstanding. The layered ridges in the back give this tremendous depth. Love that mountain!

Thanks for the feedback guys. In looking at this on another monitor it does look way too blue. I'll fix this when I get to my own PC. BTW, I believe Joshua is right about Mt. Hood and St. Helens. If I recall correctly, Mt. Adams is off to the left out of the picture.

Nice comp! Agree a BW would look really nice!

Not bad for airplane glass  I agree B and W would be awesome for this.

Really cool shot.

The depth and layers as others have mentioned is sweeeet! Last time I flew out of Sea-Tac I actually scheduled my flight to leave a little before sunset hoping for a shot like Todd describes above. The plane ended up having some sort of "mechanical" problem and I got to sit in the airport and watch an amazing sunset unfold from there. Maybe next time...I would love to see a B&W repost of this one, way to be prepared!

I caught this peaking out of a carpet of clouds once, but with a video camera. This is really cool! and I agree about a b&w or even just warming it up a lot!

Seriously, Paul--this is one cool shot! :toast:

A stunning image even with a color tint.
