Hi, just wondering if anyone has any experience of Boat Trips from Portree Harbour, on the Isle Of Skye. I have contacted one such trip organiser, who promises many sea birds, plus close ups of the White Tailed Sea Eagles, which are fed every day from the boat. I am travelling this coming saturday, and staying for a week. I hope the weather holds! All advice and experiences appreciated.
Many thanks,
Paul Rosser.

Hi Paul, I went out in August, my experience was basically one fish one dive, miss it and you have to book again for another chance. If i remember it was £15, they did a bit of a tour after the eagle had dived, it didn't take the fish, but they didn't wait for it to return. Hope this is of some help, I know others that have taken some pictures but not of Norway quality!!

Hi Paul,
The best operator is MV Stardust. They use fresh fish only, whilst the other operators have used frozen fish which can be bad for the birds. Thy also try and use larger fish and flat fish to minimise disruption from the gulls. Mornings are best (the birds are well fed by the afternoon), but I would guess they make less trips in October so you should have more success. If you speak to the skpper (Dan) he will do his best to help you out with the light and positioning of the boat. When we take guests out we spend some time practicing on gulls from the back of the boat. As others have said you will may only get one chance and the strike can happen quickly and be over before you know out.
