This female was taken at Topsham, Devon UK in December.
Light was at the end of the day and it was starting to rain. Did my best!!

Be interested in your opinions. Thanks for looking

Hi Graeme,
A fair shot, but to me it's a duck on a pond on a wet day.
Light is reasonable, composition is a little central, but the reeds in the b/g help off-set this.
I know it might be asking a bit too much, but a lower shooting angle helps with these bird on water type shots. Just don't go dipping the lens too far into the water

Cheers,
John :toast:

Yeah fair enough John, I know what you mean about the duck on water on a wet day business!! It is pretty drab. Desparation is setting in after not being able to get out for a while

It's pretty impossible to get a lower shooting angle from this place as there are hedges and railings all around the water. Had to shoot over the top at pretty much full tripod!!
Appreciate your comments though

Tell me about desparation!!!
Great light over the last few days and I've been laid up with broken ribs.

Hi Graeme,
A nice portrait of the duck, but as John says the greyness is a bit, grey,I guess.
Fingers crossed for some better weather/light.

Can only agree with the guys above but considering the conditions better than nothing

Well, I think this is a very nice image - and one I would love to have. I think the grey weather gives room for more subtle details in the duck. Besides it's not just a duck, it's a Pintail! :toast:
