Last Year's Leaves
I was walking through a field last weekend and saw this bit of color in the tree. Turned out to be just a few leaves caught in a branch.

Canon 20D
ISO 100
Canon EF 100-400 @400mm with Extension tube
f5.6 for .4 seconds

Thanks for looking!

You can thank last years drought for these gems of color, nice eye spotting such a nice small detail of nature
The BG color is also very interesting, almost looks like you shot this in a studio :)

I've seen this photo on another site and I'm glad you posted it here too. I really like the contrast between the warm color of the leaves and cool colors of the tree Tim. Nice eye to see this one.

I'm wondering if you considered stopping down 1 or 2 stops to gain a little more DOF? It looks like the combo of lens and extension tube would have kept the BG soft enough. Inquiring minds want to know! :wavey:

My first couple of shots were also wide open, but without the extension tube and I was seeing more of the background than I wanted. So I added the extension tube and let the focus fall off towards the back. The combination of 100-400 lens and the extension tube really does obliterate backgrounds!
