I spent another day this week in the pouring rain with the whole park to myself . I was looking for images with lots of textures and colours in the backgrounds and was lucky to find this fellow staking out his territory. He was rubbing his neck and antlers all over this tree from the ground up to as far as he could reach. If you look carefully you can see where he has scarred the tree and I assume that this is some kind of warning to other deer entering his domain. He would rub himself on the tree and then sniff the spot, presumably to check that the scent was strong enough I suppose and this is what he is doing in this image. I got quite a lot of shots that I liked more; some are better composed than this imo and some have more textures in, but I chose this one because I liked his body position more than anything. He seems to have nearly as much body mass above his shoulders as he does behind them. A pretty impressive beast.
Eric this really does it for me like you say a very impressive beast that front end is all power.
Agree with Karen i like reading about what you have done.
