Punta de los Lobos Marinos
While visiting Point Lobos this month my attention was caught by the play of light and water on the Sea Lion Rocks near sunset. It is a good distance from the Sea Lion Point trail across the gap known as the Devil's Cauldron so I used a 400/5.6L lens with 1.4 converter on my 7D to make this image.

I like this a lot, Paul! Nice backlit highlights and layered look. Well done.

The golden light, nice detail, and the alternating layers of light and dark make this a very nice image. Very dynamic.

Good work, Paul!

Paul,

Fantastic nature story and image. Great capture juxtaposing the sea lions amongst the surf. My only suggestion would be to see if you could sharpen up the sea lions a little bit. Perhaps they're not sharp on the original capture? Otherwise, great image.

This what creative photography is all about. Finding and creating scenes within the big picture. Well done!

I have to agree that this is exceptional. What a beautiful moment in time.

I am impressed that you are able to focus this lens combination. I have the 400 5.6 and the 1.4x and have a lot of trouble focusing the combo.
