As part of the membership changes at NPN, Jim has added a critique gallery for the regional forums. We can now start posting images in our gallery, same as ESS, Man & Nature, etc., complete with thumbnails.

THIS INCLUDES THE OPTION TO POST A 1200 PIXEL IMAGE!

See the link to the right of the moderator names above for the gallery.

Links added in the main drop-down menus too.

So, that would be the place to post images, and this is the place just for discussion? Just trying to understand if the thumbnails view and the larger image post are the only differences.

Great!
I have the same questions as Jeff above, though..

Hi Sandy,

The IC gallery would be the place to post images and this forum would be more for discussion or images not intended for critique.

Still very confused - so we post images in the new CA IC gallery, ? They are then eligible for the WP? or not? Is there a separate WP for the new Regional IC galleries?
If not, when do we post in the CA gallery vs the ESS/M&N, etc galleries??

Re the CA IC gallery, is this for all photos taken in CA, or for only those that fit in the usual galleries (ESS, Macro, Avian, etc)
?????????

Sandy,

This is just my opinion. I don't know what the original intent of the new regional IC galleries was, so I'm just guessing.

As Harley mentioned, the CANP regional forum can be used for discussion, updates like the Yosemite and fall color reports, etc. The IC gallery would be for images. I see this gallery as a "smaller circle" where maybe you just want to have a smaller circle of photogs critique the image. Yes, they could easily be posted in the other galleries you mentioned. Many folks might use the CANP IC gallery as a "test" gallery before sending off to ESS or others.

And just as a side note, I think the subject matter should still be nature related as with all the galleries on NPN. Haven't heard, but I suspect there is no WP for the regional IC galleries.

Just my .02.

Sandy and All,

As far as I know, images posted to the regional group IC galleries are not eligible for the Weekly Picks.

"Re the CA IC gallery, is this for all photos taken in CA, or for only those that fit in the usual galleries (ESS, Macro, Avian, etc) ???"

The CANP IC gallery is for images that meet the criteria for posting in the regular NPN IC galleries, such as ESS, Avian, Photo Art.

Past practice for our CANP group was such that images be made in CA, as long as they met NPN posting guidelines and fit within the established NPN categories.

"I see this gallery as a "smaller circle" where maybe you just want to have a smaller circle of photogs critique the image. Yes, they could easily be posted in the other galleries you mentioned. Many folks might use the CANP IC gallery as a "test" gallery before sending off to ESS or others. "

I agree with Lon's assessment.

Sandy, does this help?

Yes, thanks!
One more question, though -
to be considered for the CA monthly cover shot, we still have to post the image in the new CA IC gallery - even if we already posted it in the other main forums, right?
So we would be posting the same shot twice??

Yes.

"So we would be posting the same shot twice?? "

Yes, I suppose so. I don't see any other way at this point unless Jim adds a method to post an image in two, or more, IC galleries at the same time.
