We are in the process of setting up the NPN Regional Groups with their own dedicated IC gallery. The galleries are just like the main NPN IC galleries with thumbnail pages - we have thus far set up the CANP and PNWNP groups with the dedicated galleries (see the main Galleries menu at the top of the page).
The idea is that all photos (with the exception of those posted for ID or illustrative purposes) would be posted in the RMNP IC gallery and all topics of discussion would be posted here in the RMNP Discussion Forum.
Photos posted in the new RMNP IC Gallery would also appear in the All Photos Gallery and could also be added to your personal galleries.
If you would like to have a dedicated IC gallery, please let me know and we can get it set up for this group very quickly!

Count me as one who likes it the way it is.

I actually like it just the way it is, as well.

Keep things the way they are.

Another vote for the status quo.

What they said. I prefer the current system.

status quo for me too.

Thanks to all for your feedback.
Any particular reason you feel this way?
Posted by Todd Caudle on November 1, 2010 at 11:31 AM
I just don't see any reason to split the two concepts. I like the mix of photo-sharing, location questions, condition reports, peer-to-peers conversation, etc., all in one place.

Count me as one more for leaving it as is. I'm with Todd, I like the freedom to talk critique, current conditions and whatever else in one place.

I also vote for keeping things as they are. One positive aspect about the galleries that we don't have currently in the regional forums is the image preview on the topic posting. However, I don't really miss it that much because previews already exist in the other galleries (ESS, Avian, etc.) so if someone wants to post just one photo for critique that venue and style is already available. Adding regional galleries will just muddy the waters up IMO and detract from the main galleries. If I want to look at landscape images I want to click on one place: ESS - not ESS then Regional: CANP then Regional: PNWP, then...you get the point.
Also, many of us in the regional forums like posting multiple images for critique, often from the same shoot, in the same topic. Topics with that purpose are not as effective in the IC gallery format. I agree with the others above that the mix of critique and other conversations is what makes the regional forums so appealing. Separating the critique topics from all others just causes too much confusion.

I like having everything in one place in stead of looking in different locations.

I also recommend keeping the current format. Josh and Todd summarized my reasons well. I also feel a separate IC would weaken the regional discussion forums and I much prefer the "one stop shopping" approach for regional topics.
Yep, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Seriously, Jim, we seem to have an extraordianary mix here on RMNP that makes it quite lively and, I would dare say, seems to be the most active regional forum. So, I also vote to leave it as is. Thanks,
Morris

I want the new IC galleries!!
Ok, im just kidding, just like causing trouble...

I like the way it is too.

Ditto for keeping it the way it is. Thanks for asking though!

I agree with everyone else. The ability to post multiple images and discuss a thread is key to the success of this regional forum. The genre specific galleries like ESS are already well suited to single image critiques and get worldwide visitation. There doesn't seem to be a reason to segregate them.

What's wrong with an Integrated Circuit Gallery?
Seriously, ditto to what others have said.

Yet another ditto....keep it the same please
Another draw-back to adding a new gallery, is I have a hard enough time keeping up with posts here and also at the avian and fauna galleries. Not sure I can keep up with another.

I also enjoy the "one stop shopping". Please keep things as they are now.
