We are in the process of setting up the NPN Regional Groups with their own dedicated IC gallery. The galleries are just like the main NPN IC galleries with thumbnail pages - we have thus far set up the CANP and PNWNP groups with the dedicated galleries (see the main Galleries menu at the top of the page).
The idea is that all photos (with the exception of those posted for ID or illustrative purposes) would be posted in the CSNP IC gallery and all topics of discussion would be posted here in the CSNP Discussion Forum.
Photos posted in the new CSNP IC Gallery would also appear in the All Photos Gallery and could also be added to your personal galleries.
If you would like to have a dedicated IC gallery, please let me know and we can get it set up for this group very quickly!

JIm, I think it is a great idea a good way to seperate the discussions from the photos. I have seen some discussion about increasing the file size to 300K. Is this something that will happen and if so, can you tell us when you are planning on doing this?

I am all for adding a CSNP IC Gallery, great idea to get more folks involved with each region. Thanks Jim.

Tom, the new 300kb limit is now in effect for the IC galleries.

One more vote for a dedicated IC gallery for CSNP. I noticed just the other day that the PNWNP & CANP posted images were showing up in the All Photos Gallery and wondered what was going on.
CSNP has a very high image post to discussion post ratio already. This will just get more exposure and feedback for images posted here.
Thanks Jim!

I guess my concern would be that the high image/discussion ratio would mean that splitting the two might cause the discussion half to wither even more, as the traffic would tend to follow the images, resulting in fewer discussion threads and posts.
Have the CANP and PNWNP forums been split long enough to see whether that has been the case there? I suppose it would take major re-coding to keep a unified forum while allowing all of the other improvements as well, such as the presence of thumbnails for image critique posts and the inclusion of posted images in the all photos and personal galleries?
Having said that, I think it's an interesting idea and I'm not necessarily opposed to it, but I would hope that the results are monitored to assure that the discussion forum does not deteriorate.

Thanks JIm, one more reason to have a dedicated Gallery.

Can it be set up so we can get email when new photos would be posted to a dedicated CSNP photo gallery in addition to new discussion items on the forum then? One thing I really like about the forums is that new posts show up in the 'email alerts'. It would be nice if we could get the same thing for the galleries (maybe we can I just don't know how to set that up...).

I would have the same concerns as Randy as at whether the split would cause a drop off of discussion. I really like the way it is set up now for that reason.

I'm with Randy and Joe. I like the current format, but would like to post images with larger pixel dimensions.

OK, you guys need to give me a "yes" or "no" to the gallery.
There are no plans on upgrading photo posting in the forums as that was never their intention or purpose (photo critique). If you don't want the IC gallery, it stays as-is.

Jim, I'll respond again ... I'm for making the change.
Almost every thread started on CSNP includes a photo, that is just the way this regional forum evolved. But I think the most important factor should be consistency ... across the whole of NPN.
You have already set up PNWNP & CANP with this feature and if those forums like the format change I think it should be incorporated in all the regional forums.

I vote yes for the same reasons Wayne has stated plus it gives us an avenue for higher resolution photos. We have all the capabilites in the gallery we have here. It is just a matter of adjusting where we look.

I would be for the change in format as well. Mark me down as a yes.

Gallery set up and ready to go. Enjoy!

Thanks Jim, this is a great resource for us. I have already loaded a photo that I was having trouble loading here due to size limits. I am ready to see more photos from fellow CSNP members.
