Icebreaker (c) + repost
This Otter was breaking up the ice this bitterly cold Winter's morning at the British Wildlife Centre in England.

They lived on a small island which overnight had become joined to the land by the ice and it was fascinating to watch as the otter systematically broke up the ice to prevent predators walking across.

This was taken as a single shot and I was lucky enough to actually capture a piece of ice still balancing on it's head as it broke through from underneath

It's almost full frame, I just slightly cropped some dead space off the top and right.

You have captured a great moment here, Geoffrey, but I think you can give it a little more punch. The lighting has done you few favours. I suggest you try lightening the shadows and darkening the highlights. You may need to give the contrast a little boost as well. It is worth it, becasue you have something out of the ordinary here.

I think I prefer the repost too Geoffrey, it is very hard to add appeal to a shot of a muddy animal in a muddy background. You have caught some interesting behaviour here captive or not.
