Here's an image I shot on our way back on Sunday. I took one exposure for the left tree, and then one that focused on the background trees.

The bark detail and color is really good Rick. The only problem though is the detailess white of the snow, which gives an uncomfortable and uneasy feeling about the bases of some of the trees.. at least to me. I wonder if you could get some detail out of the snow a little?

Rick,
The trees seem a little too red also. I think your going to have to wait till next year to get your "Ponderosa and snowshot"

This is definitely not the shot I was hoping for. I would add a darker version of the snow floor if this had more merit, but it doesn't really. I kinda liked the near far effect...but that's not enough to pull off the whole scene. Thanks for your honest feedback Ned, Mark, and Erik.
