Barn in Boxley Valley.
Hi everyone. I've been enjoying everyones outstanding work here on CSNP for quite awhile but never posted anything because my post-processing skills are horrible. I've been watching and trying to learn, but I guess the best way is to post something and let you guys tell me what I'm doing wrong and hopefully I can catch on.
I was up in Boxley Valley this past Friday morning to get some shots of the elk at daybreak. I've driven past this barn a hundred times but never took a photo of it before. I used a Canon 40D, 28-105mm lens at 28mm, F/8 at 1/80sec. I braced the camera on a fence post for support. Thank you for looking.

Welcome aboard and nice starting image. Looks like just enough touch of HDR work. Not over done. I like the fall colors on the hill too. It's also good to see some clouds in the morning sky. Now, if the elk would just walk thru the shot! They don't seem to cooperate that well. Look forward to many more of your images.

Beautifully done, love the light you captured.

If this is HDR composite lending the pleasing dynamic range then I agree with Mike, well done and not overdone. If a single photo you did good processing.
I like the contrast of the dark clouds with the warthm of the lower portion of the barn. Consider cloning out the wires on the left silhoutted against the sky. Great wood texture.
Nice photo.

Hi Tony, welcome to CSNP. I like this presentation, good subject in very nice side light and not too centered. Looks like pretty good shooting technicals as well. The pole shadow falling on the roof is a bit more distracting than the power lines but still, both are minor nits.

Well done, I'm looking forward to seeing more from you.

Welcome Tony. Nice first post. I love the lighting in this shot. I've come close to stopping at that barn several times to take photos.

Welcome, Tony, nice first post. As John mentioned, I have passed this barn many times and thought to stop but never have. Glad you did and shared it with us.

Thanks everyone. I'm not too good with CS2 yet, but I cloned out the wires and the shadow on the roof. You're right, it looks alot better. Thank you.

Here's my attempt and cloning out the wires and shadow on the roof. I'm not too good at it yet, but I'm learning. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Great view of that old barn! The hdr of blending looks pretty good.

You had nice light the barn really pops with that dark sky.

Nicely done.
