Hi all,

Here is another from this years trip to Kenya, but this time birdlife.

This Tawny Eagle was sitting comfortably on top of its perch for quite some time. I managed to keep myself focussed on the subject for long periods of time, waiting for some movement or action to take place, before releasing the shutter. I remember panicking though, each time I had to blink or stretch, in fear that I would miss the action.

Finally it decided to move and this image was recorded. Personally, I wish that the head was angled ever so slightly more towards the camera.

More images from Kenya 2010 are available HERE

C&C most welcome.

Canon 1DMK4, 500mm +1.4x , f5.6, 1/1250 ISO800.

Cheers

Austin

Not too shabby for the MK4 then Austin

Great detail in the wing area, think you are getting too picky about the HA, although I know where you are coming from, unless you are working on feed back from Mr M? I must admit that I would have associated a bright blue sky rather than the dark green. Good capture.

BTW there are two white specs just below the tail feathers to the right of the branch?

Thanks for your feedback.Much appreciated.

I was pretty much at eye level with the bird as this tree was growing from the base of a small river bed. I was on the bank of the river some 30 feet or so above water level and the background would have been the trees beyond the far river bank.

Steve. Thanks for pointing out the white dots. I am pretty certain that they are small fragments of the branch that came away as the Eagle moved. I will take a look at the high res and I am sure that even my limited PSP skills can sort them if needed !

Cheers
