Morning stroll
Taken early in the morning from one of the best and most exhilarating wildlife encounters I have ever had, these guys are just so misunderstood. This sow just appeared from out of the blue, emerging from the thick, dense vegetation and was off to one of the waterfalls/fish ladders for his breakfast, obsessed/driven to packing on the pounds before winter sets in.

Must be a wonderful sight to see close up

Lovely shot Steve :toast:

Being really really really picky a shame about the big log in the background

A great spot Steve. I like the reflection, the tones in the reflection and the general colour of the water. The raised paw is a big plus.

The background doesn't add too much to the image IMHO so at the risk of repeating myself ( see my comments elsewhere ) I wonder if a horizontal crop would have balanced the foreground and background interest. Maybe that would have been too square a crop or your tripod was jammed on this particular trip !!

Cheers

Austin

Hello Stephen.

Love the bear and the reflection, I,m ok with the setting as is but would like to see this in a landscape format, as a portrait format I think your composition is about right.

Hi Ian, close-up, how about shooting a 1000lbs male with a 16-35, that close at one point, sadly that is nature and the log is part of the environment, no hiding that

Hi Austin, the habitat changes from each shot (as you know) and that is what you are going to get on this particular inlet, massive thick grass you could hide an army in, including Grizzlies  This one, as I said appeared out of the blue so you have to grab what you can get, warts & all, no chance of setting the shot up. If I had rotated to landscape to cut the BG down then I would have included the beginning of a sandbank and a few gulls and you know my love of Gulls!!!

Hi Guy, I thought so, but again everything/most of the time is all subjective.

Thanks everyone. :wavey:
