Members,

I got interested in photography about five years ago. I have a Canon 7D that I upgraded to in June from a Canon T1i. In real life I am a software developer. I live in Otto, NC which is right on the border of Northeast Georgia and NC. I have been married for 20+ years and have 3 daughters.

I read an article by Bret Edge about 9 months ago that discussed joining a photographers forum as a way to improve your photography. I really liked the idea and looked at several of the sites he recommended in the article. After several months it felt like this would be the best site for me.

I like how active this forum is and the tone of the critiques. The photography here is amazing and I have been learning quite a bit just from auditing this site, but now I am ready to take the plunge and get involved.

I look forward to participating in this great forum.

Thanks,

Mark

Welcome, Mark! Good to have you with us!

You might also want to post in the "What do you do for a living?" thread - we're a very diverse bunch, brought together by our love of nature photogaphy.

Be sure also to check out the REGIONAL forums - chances are there are people very close to you to perhaps get together with, if you'd like.

Hey Mark,

I'm a newbie too! I see you responded to my first post. . .thanks! I also have a 7D which I recently upgraded to from a 40D. It took some getting used to but now I absolutely love it.

So you're a software developer, huh? I'm a web/flash designer and work with a lot of programmers/developers. I admire them greatly, and wish I had that skill.

Welcome!

Howdy. NPN is sort of the "Not too hot, not too cold" of the internet forums. Everyone feels comfortable here! Glad to have you on our bus.
