One taken yesterday. As Ian said in his post the waters were running very high. Didn't seem to bother the Dippers though. Poor light meant we were freezing in the shade all day while the sun shone higher up all around us.

Hi Maggie, really nice shot. Love the pose and feel of the water. Has a bit of a blue cast on my screen, although I've just had a glass of grouse so it could be that!
Dippers are very tough birds Maggie and you will find them foraging in all types of weather come what may.
I like the comp placing the bird to one side, however I feel it does look rather dark & slightly saturated, giving you this cast over the bird. Would correct it just on the Dipper and slightly lighten over the darker areas to bring the detail out as I quite like the richness of the water. Also my eye is drawn to where the light is catching the water ripple top lh corner (brown & black areas), but guess that is a personal thing.
Caw pats - at least it's organic, it's the price you pay for working outside with nature
Thanks everyone for the advice. I have looked at several images taken on the same rock and the Dipper's chest has a cyan tinge on all of them so can only assume it is a reflection from the water. Will try what you suggest Steve and see what it turns out like.

Good composition and the colours convey the cold you were feeling.
Is that why you sat in a cow pat, to keep warm?
Slight cyan cast on the bird's chest on my monitor, no doubt reflected off the sky/water but easily corrected.
Well done.

Told you sitting in a cow pat would keep you warm
I have to agree there is a slight colour cast
