Dipper in the Rain

Good stuff.
I'd tone down the white blob on the right.
Cheers

Lovely shot Andrew :toast:

I like the streaks of rain

I also think that the white blob could do with going

Nice detail on the Dipper Andrew. I agree about the white blob. If possible would also try and tone down the top of the rock. I gather these weren't landing too close going by your lens and TC? :toast:

Nicely done Andrew. The rain streaks look great and add to the atmosphere.

1/25th with 840mm of lens = very steady hands or tripod. Which one ?

Cheers

Thats a great image! Agree about the white highlite, but it's a minor nit. Nice work.

Austin, whilst I would like to be able to hand hold that combi, I have to confess I used a Gitzo with a gimbal head, VR was on and I finger tripped the shutter.

Interesting comments about the "white blob". It was foamy stuff on the water caused by the rain/water flow. As it was present at the time the image was made, I left it. Easy to remove in CS5 especially with the new content aware fill.

Thaks for the comments.

Hi Andrew, I will try not to repeat the above.

The white blob easily addressed as you say, however we tend to see things differently behind camera and may not always see the obvious after the event. Yes, the streaks of rain does give it atmosphere and help the overall composition IMHO and I like the banded BG. My only addition would be to try and lighten the body under the wing to bring out some more of the detail.

This is lovely
The rain adds to the image.
Well captured.

Agreeing with Stephen again with reference to the shadow underneath the bird.

You must have been working in the near dark at ISO1600 and 1/25 second. Pretty good stuff for those conditions and lens combination. Just wondered if you took any other shots at a higher ISO?
