Very nice John, prefer this to the previous, the surroundings look very natural with the eye drawn to the bird. Well done.

Nice detail John and shows the typical setting for a Water Rail. Is that a third foot though
Also when did you get a D300 and 100-300 lens? You will probably tell me about 6 months ago as I am not very observant. I can drive past the same spot for months before noticing that a building has been either erected or demolished

Hi John,

The bird stands out well with good eye contact. What do you bait them with out of interest?

Cheers

Austin

Looks like that head is coming right out of the frame.Good colour and detail especially in the eye and as usual I like your composition.

John, I agree with Roy that there is a little 3D effect about the way the head looks to be coming out of the image. Although I like the background, I wonder if a slightly lower camera position would have thrown the background a little more out of focus? Andrew

Maggots, brilliant but casters are better as they dont run off ;) I do wonder about that bit of puple looking vegetation on the right, looks like he has 3 feet  Only joking, this is a great rail shot!
