Long-tailed Macaque, Borneo
Another from Borneo. Taken at Sepilok Nature Resort, where my lens steamed up for 45 minutes the day after when there were monkeys and hornbills everywhere!

Nikon D300s
Sigma 50-500 at
Manual focus
Tripod
F8.0
1/125s
ISO 640

Lovely expression Oscar but I don't think the BG does anything for the image. Would also be preferable with more room on the RHS as part of the monkey's back has been cut off. Nice to see something different though. :toast:

Oscar much as I hate to agree with Maggie  in this case I have to.

Background is very fussy and its cropped too close on the right hand side.

Has your 200-400 turned up yet ?

Yes - sadly there is no more space to the right as I have had to straighten it. It was at F8 and the background was not great, but I liked the expression.

Yes it has arrived!  It's fantastic - it will be getting a thorough testing at the London Wetland Centre this weekend.

Unfortunately, I had it in my air-conditioned at 16C all night and so when I brought it out into double that it steamed up immediately - Oh well, you learn from it (I'll repair my lens when it first goes wrong next time!)

Yes there are at least two, but never closer than 80m yet - We need the ice to bring in more (we had seven last year) and then they are also forced out into the open to search for food in the smaller stands of reeds. One even roosted at the top of a tree last year and was there all morning!
