Resently, I found a pair of Great Gray Owls with the help of a birder friend who spotted them first. I followed his sketchy directions and eventually found their meadow and pine woods. 15 seconds one way or another and I would not have found them. I returned 4 times to try to take a photograph. The first 3 yielded images shot at 6400ISO on my 7D. All very dark and blurry. The 4th visit was a true gift. The photo posted is the result. The moment I had to take this photo came and was gone in 30 seconds.

An excellent portrait.
Birders are good friends to have! What they can find never ceases to amaze me.

This really is a sweet, sweet image. And even with all the stray branches all over the place, not one is a distraction in the least. Great shot, Rohn!

Exactly!
That's one of the many reasons this looks so good.A true gift, indeed!
I think a simple Levels adjustment to set a brighter white point would be make this pop a whole lot more.
Congratulations on capturing this beauty!

A most excellent shot! The intense focus on his eyes at a possible meal is the strength of this one.
