Cataract Trail Fall Report
For those of you in the San Francisco Bay Area with limited time off this fall the big leaf maples are turning in the coastal ranges. I decided to check out the Cataract Trail in Marin yesterday. The recent rains have brought water back to the falls. Unfortunately it rained tuesday night causing the falls to be a bit muddy. Some of the maples were just starting to turn and some had already lost most of their leaves. Caution: the rocks are very slippery use care when exploring off trail. As usual with coastal canyons, deadfall and rugged terrain make it a challenging location to shoot.

Paul,

Thanks for the update. Marin County is very beautiful with many opportunities for great shots.

Very nice image.

This is a nice view of the canyon. I'm trying to picture exactly where this is and am not quite sure, so congratulations.

John, The first image is about the 4th or 5th fall up the trail from the reservoir. Just past the bridge that takes you across the creek. Here is another photo from the top of the uppermost falls (9th fall on the trail).

Thanks, Paul. I thought I recognized the area but wasn't sure until I got home and looked at my photos. Most shots of that fall show the pool in front of the falls, not the forest behind it. I liked your different take on it.
