This stayed in my garden for about 5 minutes yesterday, not the best of days - and it is much earlier than when I saw them last year. Just managed to find my camera in time to take a few pics. Shutter speed wasn't wonderful but enough.

C&C welcome

Hi Kim, I think the added apple sets this one off as its in a more 'natural' setting/environment. It's a pity you don't see all the bird, but hey only having 5 mins...

I would be tempted to ease off a tad on the saturation, just a bit and the sharpening, as there is a sharpening halo artifact around the bird, back of head, lower chest. A cheery image with some nice light. :toast:

Hi Stephen - thanks for the comment - I agree - there is a bit of a halo - it's your youthful eyes!! I didn't notice that I had overdone sharpening and saturation. The unedited version seemed a bit soft - but clearly I have been heavy handed. Am glad you pointed it out. Cheers! :toast:

re-edited with very little sharpening and no saturation. Can't do anything about the tail as the leaves have not yet fallen off!. I hope it has improved it.

Like the second image much better Kim. Have seen flocks of them in flight in this neck of the woods but none perched so far.

I think this is a fine shot. The repost is miles better, and I like the way that it is peering out of cover. It adds to the interest. It definitely wanted that bit of space put back behind it as well.
Lovely job.
