It's been a while since my last post (and since my last photography, given my current urban confinement in the big city), but thought I'd share a handful of familiar views from a brief trip to Zion a couple of weeks ago.
I thought we might have timed it right for peak colour, but it seems Nov 1 was around a week early this year. In a way I was astonished at how fresh the trees still looked in the Narrows - more like the lime green of spring foliage (but without the 400 cfm torrent of meltwater).
A mix of good colour at higher elevation near the road on the way out of the east entrance to the park.

The greens in that first image really stand out. Very nice images!

Nice work on these. I really like the comp on the second one and the colors in the last one are terrific!

Short but sweet! I'm especially partial to #1. I have a very similar composition hanging in our entry, printed at 30" x 45". It was taken 3 years ago, around Nov. 8. The trees were a nice gold at that time.
Your composition is very good and the greens are just fine. I think what is missing is the warm, reflected lighting on the walls behind the trees. What time of day did you shoot this?
Bill - I think this was taken around 1pm, from memory (who knows what time my camera was set to!). I probably should have taken a look at the light in the same spot on the way back out of the narrows, but by then we were running so late, that I wasn't able to hang around. Time seems to slip by very quickly in this place!

Sweet collection! 1 and 4 are killer! I have hiked the narrows about Oct 1 but never during fall color, did you need something to keep your feet warm?

A nice collection, but the light wasn't very cooperative for you on this day.
