I just noticed what I would describe as digital "scratches" on a few images that I shot with my 5DMI. They are most noticeable when zooming way into an image. Does anyone know what that might be caused by and how to deal with it, other than having to retouch each image?
Thanks,
Chris

I've not experienced it personally but have seen others with this problem where it turned out to be a hair/fiber on the sensor. If the 5D has sensor cleaning capabilities you could take a look.

Are the 'scratches' black in color? If so, I tend to agree with Steve that it could be debris on the sensor.

Can you post an image here that shows what you are seeing? That would help us, I think.

Chris, can you post an example?

I have had something similar in the past (mine where black in nature as described above). Mine was a result of using an Arctic Butterfly sensor brush. While I was cleaning, I accidently caught a few hairs on the sides. The sides are greased for flipping the shutter, and I streaked a few lines from the grease on the sensor. A simple wet cleaning solved the issue, but attempt that at you own risk.

Thanks, I will post some examples. I won't be home for a couple of days, so will post them when I return. Thanks again for your input.

Ok, I never posted the examples, life keeps getting in the way of things, but I happened to be near the Canon shop and decided to drop it off. Since it had just been in for some work they looked it over for free and had to adjust some things in the camera which seems to have fixed the issue. Not sure of the technical jargon, but it doesn't sound like it would have been user fixable. Thanks for all the feedback!! Sorry about my lack of follow through.
