Light Boxes for the Home

A customer recently saw a print of mine on display in a 24" x 24" backlit box at a retail location. She would like to order the print AND a wall-mounted light box as a gift for the holidays.

This is new turf to me. I saw www.pegasauslighting.com and their prices seemed reasonable enough. I can go either way--have the company that sells the lightbox also due the print, or, I can purchase a light box for my customer and have it printed locally. I want to obviously optimize my profit margin.

Any suggestions or experiences are more than welcome!! Thanks in advance.

Sometimes, it is best to "stick to your knitting". In your case, making photographs and prints. Sell the print and provide some assistance to customer to make the light box purchase decision on her own.

Appreciate that Bill.

Actually, this new shop I found locally, the guy does printing and custom framing. He already did special prints for me for a retail box. Now he gave me a VERY reasonable price for a wooden-framed backlit box that he's going to build--if the customer approves.

If not, I'm going to do as you suggest or recommend a traditional print and frame job.

I'm out of date Bill, but years ago we used to have something similar for public display and retail applications. It's called Duratrans. While we were using it for retail displays, I'm aware that they make hardware for home applications. At that time we were able to get wholesale pricing on the hardware and sell that along with the image.
