Great detail and the nit has been covered. As it is nearly square I'm assuming that you have some extra frame on the original. Is the extra space to the right or the left (which would explain why you cropped it)?
Incidentally Geoff, you are regularly producing consistently high quality images with that Sigma lens which proves the old adage that it isn't always necesary to spend mega-bucks to get decent images.

This was taken with the bird central so I had spare room on both sides but decided to crop it square.
All this was done a year or two ago for another website as are most of the images I've uploaded on here, I just re-sized them for this site as I still have over 300 images waiting to upload.
With what I've since learned I'd probably leave some space on the right nowadays.
My Sony only had the one central cross hair and as most of you know, you only have a split second to focus and shoot these small birds so I didn't often have the luxury of being able to re-compose off centre.
It's a different story now that I've got a D3 though, it'll make life a lot easier for me.

Very crisp shot and i quite like the central placement due to your square crop. I do feel that the bird i looking up a bit too much but hey..it's nature..

I have found these for some reason to be the least photogenic of our Tits, would be very happy with this one.I think the red buds work very well here.
