Another of a series of Shots taken with the intention of showing the fast flowing water and a stationary Dipper.
This bright idea resulted in a lot of blurred water and even more blurred Dippers
D700
Nikon 200-400 f4 with 1.4TC
1/200 sec at f5.6 ISO 400
Tripod as low as it will go
Slight crop off the top.

Hi Ian
The ones I did, I got down to 50th second but obviously a lot of waste. I think I got I shot out of 100.
May be a little more blur on the water would convey the speed a bit more in my humble opinion but no doubt others will dissagree.
Good stuff though.
Cheers
John

A good one showing the enviroment off well

Thanks
This was one of the higher speed ones most were at 1/50 or 1/60 sec and the wastage was awful ( well would have been on film )

A great shot Ian
You need some really fast moving water to get some obvious movement, or get one of those stuffed Dippers off Ebay
Well done.
Geoff.

Nice concept, maybe not enough seperation between bird and background or loose the rock behind the bird to solate it even more, but still a good shot in very difficult circumstances, definately needs more blur in water

Thanks for the input is this one any better ? at 1/60 sec

I prefer the first - I do not like the branch in the second, although I like the setting

Like the idea and the first shot best, as its really good. I would like to see some at 1/10, 1/20 and so on up to 1/50...maybe slower at 1/4. I know you'll get less keepers the slower you go but just maybe you'll get something really special.
