Went to Moran Point at the Big Ditch this past weekend. Mostly it was extremely windy and overcast, but the sun did make a sunrise appearance Saturday. Used a new Nikon 16-35 f/4. Posted another from that morning in ESS.
Do you think the reflection off the river below is an added element that gives depth, or a distraction?

I think the inclusion of the river is a must! Do a little test: hold your finger up over the bright river, then move it away. It adds a very important contextual element. Glad you got at least a little bit of nice light.

I think the river is a good element to keep for context and depth, but can't make the call with just this small JPG. At this size the short reflection is a distraction for me, but I'm sure that would not be the case for a larger image.

Very nice! Really like the river in the image.

I think including the river is a must for just about any shot from Moran Point and this one is no exception. I would suggest cropping a bit from the left side of the image, maybe 15%.

Looks like the river stays, Doug. I agree. Nice shot.

It is somewhat distracting but those in the know says it has to stay. Maybe burn it back a tad.

I agree with the others...it should stay. Adam's crop idea looks good to me.
Pam is onto something, as well. Burning it down to more closely match the lower half visible would keep it from immediately grabbing the eye as much.

I agree with the others. I might also try getting it a tad sharper. NIce pic!

Repost with a left-side crop, burning of the river and some added sharpness.

Yep, the repost is excellent. I like the river included also. Nice view and light.

That's the one, Doug....cut and print!

As other said, repost is killer.
