I still haven't finished processing all of my photos from my recent trip to the desert but I figure that I've done enough to post a few photos and get your feedback.

I spent the first week of November down in Grand Staircase Escalante, Utah with a short trip to Zion NP to join Scott Bacon for a day in the Narrows. It was a great trip with wonderful autumn color and terrific weather. I almost feel like I did more shooting this week than I did all summer long! I also brought a 24mm 1.4 lens with me to try my hand at star images. Needless to say, it was wonderful and refreshing.

I'd love your feedback and suggestions on any of my photos. Open them large as the thumbnails rarely give a good indication of what the images are. I'm a little uncertain on my post processing as I've been having ongoing monitor calibration issues. I look forward to hearing your critiques. Thanks!

Wow Erik, that is spot on in my opinion. What I like about this is the sky has what I would consider to be true night time color..the foreground rocks have incredible detail for a night shot..great post!!! :toast:

PS: you whole series on the website is excellent...very hard to pick a favorite!

PPS: The color on my Macbook looks very very good so your monitor must be pretty darn close!

Man, you really got around!

Yeah, that one is composed very nicely and is very realistic looking. I much prefer it over 'Pillars of the Night' in that regard. 'Campfire Pillar' is also great!
I like most of your work from this trip, but a few stand out.
'Cedar Breaks Glow' is a nice alternative to Bryce. I wouldn't mind seeing it 'pop' a bit more.
'Shadow Mountains' is original and very cool looking.
The light and framing in 'Cottonwood Bridge' look terrific!
That and 'Layers Falls-V' are my favorite from that place.
I can see why the light in 'Double Arch Autumn' bowled you over. That's a great capture of that place. That and 'Marriage' are my favorites there, although 'Marriage' could use a bit of brightening in the upper left corner.

This is certainly my favorite of your star images. As John noted, very "natural" looking.

The rest of your fall collection is outstanding. :toast:
Now I know who I voted for in the Fall Color Contest.

Some fantastic images in this series Erik. I roamed some of the same areas a couple weeks before you, but your series is just stunning. Not to hijack your post here, but when I saw your shot of The Narrows with the rocks, I was dumb founded. How we both saw this same shot in almost the exact same manner is beyond me. I shot this two weeks before, but had not posted it anywhere until way after you came back.

Looks like you had an awesome trip Erik. My favorites are "Classic Cottonwood Falls," "Loopy," and this star shot (but all of them are nice). I'm sure a bunch of these will make great prints for the gallery!

Amazing Images Eric, the sky seems just maybe a bit to purple, but no one else has mentioned it so maybe it's just me?

Kinda hard to make comments about the whole set, but there are some great shots within the set. I can't really comment on the color as I'm not on a calibrated monitor right now either, but they look pretty good here.
