1DMk iv, 600mm f4, 1/1250s, f4.5, iso 400. Morning sunshine. Wild, not stuffed.
I wish it would snow more often! The intense blue background is shaded snow, reflecting the blue sky. The bird is lit by the reflection from the snow in the foreground. He's foraging for bait in the snow by the way. Blizzards here at present LARGER VERSION

lovely image with really crisp detail. Just a slight more head rotation would have been perfect though i would still be happy with it.

Really nice image Ian. Plumage detail and colour superb and I like the BG. Kicked up snow and slight incline of head nail behaviour.

Beautiful birds aren't they
I like the flying bits of snow.
Well done.
Colours of the Starling show up really well. BG was just made for the image.

Ian
The reflective light enhances the colour captured plus the snow movement makes a cracking shot.

You have shown the colours in all their glory here Ian. A great action shot that has everything.

Great colour in the bird, eye is nicely lit,the shade of blue in the background realy makes the shot for me.These birds from abroad dont seem to be any where near as approachable, not round here anyway.
