Hi all,
Usual story for me, been an age since last posting but been lerking in the background. I spent a rather uneventful long weekend at Bradgate during the rut and got some ok images of the reds and fallow but was particularly happy to discover Kingfisher along the stream there.
Usually I have just seen a kingfisher fly by as a blue flash but this kingfisher decided to perch and catch multiple fish. Just posting this image out of sheer happiness to grab a shot of such a beautiful bird. Maybe a project for next year.
c&c welcome.

I love it! Very different and works well. Nice backlighting, relaxed bird and good habitat - well well done!
I actually like this... a good example that the subject need not be big in frame... the autumnal colour are nice... if I were to be picky I would prefer a bit less DoF just to throw the fence a touch more OoF...
Yes really nice lighting and good to see a "different" image of a Kingfish. Those blasted fences at Bradgate have a lot to answer for

Really like this image, shame about the fence but it does set everything in context

Super autumnal colours, and I love the backlighting. Good to see something a little different as Maggie says. Great stuff.

Thanks for all your comments. It can be a shame about the fences at Bradgate but in the male Kingfishers case he would use the fence for stunning the fish so i am sure he was pretty happy

I dont mind the fence in this at all. There has been some terrific kingfisher shots on here lately though being honest this is the type of shot I would chose for my wall. Very nice
First class image Ben. Variety is the spice of life and although full frame images can be very dramatic it is often this type of picture that appeals more. As Roy has said, it is a type of image that we would chose to hang on a wall.

Thankyou all, maybe next year I will spend a bit more time trying to perfect my kingfisher images.
