Female Reed Bunting and repost
Hi all :wavey:

feel daft on asking for ID on this bird but I am a relative newcomer to bird photography and I cannot cross match this to an extent where I am confident with the ID, so I have no doubt that someone out there can give me an insant ID. I know what I thought it was but now I am not so sure.

Also as I said I am a relative newcomer to small bird photography so all critique is welcome.

tech specs D300, 300mm f4 and 1.4tc ISO 800 1/320@f5.6

Many thanks

Hi Shaun,

I believe this a female Reed Bunting... a shade big in the frame for my taste but for ID purposes it is fine.... You have caught a nice pose... I might just do a little work on the eye, just to highlight the catchlight and detail that is already there...

I'd go with Phil on this Reed Bunting pic.
More space on the right would help too but thats just my personal view, others will have their own ideas.
Cheers

I would agree on the more space comments.Like the angle you have on the bird and the eye contact, I think it could stand a little more sharpening and still mantain a natural look.

Hi All

Here is the repost of the above image, grown the canvas a bit and upped the sharpening, many thanks for all the help.

The extra space has given a real lift in my opinion, it is now however showing some little signs of oversharpening above the head and down the back, think you may have to back off just a little.Getting these pictures at there best at 720 is no mean feat.Very nice shot Shaun and worth the effort. :toast: :toast:

Repost is much better. Very nice shot. I like the soft foreground blending in the background. :wavey:

The extra space looks good but a little over sharpened I think
