Well after watching all the other regional groups crow about the arrival of fall color, it is finally getting good in Texas. True, Texas, (especially north Texas where I am) is not a foliage hot spot, but what we lack in a quick flash we get in a long drawn out display. You just have to know what to look for and what to expect.
The yellows started to arrive in early November and many of our native trees are peaking now, especially the Red Oaks.
The Japanese Maples are about a week out and the Bradford Pears are just getting started. I should have a chance at fall color for the next three weeks as we typically lose the leaves around winter solstice.
Anyway here are a few to share. Nothing great but some of the local color.
Here is one from west of Cowtown in Palo Pinto County.

One from the local Japanese Garden. Only about 20% of the maples have turned. I am really hoping for cloud cover and red next weekend, but if it inolves the fall of 2010, a camera, and me, I fully expect bluebird skies......

Finally one goofing around while waiting for the gardens to open, I took one shot of this tree so had to tweak the RAW to get this slightly weird and slightly HDRish image.

Enjoy your late arriving fall Darren. The season has come & gone here in KC so now it's time to bundle up for winter's stark and cold landscape. Have a wonderful holiday season.
