Another Shortie
The short eared owls most of the time kept there distance in and out of the trees so have decided to work with the distance and keep the habitat and keep the bird quite small in the frame, just a slight noise reduction on the background but to be honest was quite impressed with the high ISO, just think the noise reduction has given a nicer effect in the bg.Not a bit crop some off the left and bottom for better comp.Again light was pretty poor but will keep working on them and hopefully they will decide to come out a bit earlier.

Canon 1DMK4, Canon 500f4L + 1.4 convertor, ISO 1600, f5.6, 1/250

That's a lovely shot Karen.
I spent some wonderful times with these birds many years back.
Not seen one for years.
Cheers

That's a real cracker Karen! Very impressive for iso 1600.

I love the light on the wings, and the background complements the bird well.

Very nice indeed. I think I would have preferred it without the tree branches on the left but that isn't intended as a criticism in any way, just a preference. Either way I would be extremely happy to have taken this.

I like it a lot Karen, and I know how hard they are to film so i think you are approaching it the right way. They don't often come out early, unless you can find their roosting place and film them on the branch, tough to do without disturbing them.
