I spent a bit of time at a spot today where I encountered SEO's last year, but this is one of the first close up pics I've managed.

It's a shame about the perch, but it was fantastic to see them wheeling about and hunting, and I was thrilled to get quite close for a few frames.

As you can see, the farmer has helpfully put up some new posts and gates, and the Owls have taken to them like, well, Owls to posts really I suppose!

Great detail - as you said, a shame about the perch! :toast:

Iain

Excellent capture post as well that's where they sit and perch after all.

Very nice indeed - especially for iso2500.

I wonder if it could do with a slight lift to the exposure to brighten it and another round of USM ? Might be me though as I am viewing on my work screen :toast:

Shame about the perch but the owl looks great. :wavey:

The owl is great, but to me this shot cries out to be in portrait format rather than square.

Fabulous shot - and I have no problem at all with the perch! It's different! :toast:

your title sums it up well.Bird looks very relaxed on one leg,and you got good eye contact and detail. Background colour suits the bird well. I would be thrilled as you were just to get this close, regardless of perch chosen.

Hi Iain.
Recon the wood perch would be warmer ,that Owl looks great.

Not fond of the square format here but a nice close up.

Iain, I like the perch as it really is different. I'm not sure about the black band at the top of the image and would be tempted to try and crop it out if possible. Andrew

Many thanks for all your comments and suggestions, it is most appreciated, and I'm learning so much everytime I post something!

I've had a go at a portrait crop as suggested by a few of you.
