I have just got back from Bosque del Apache and I am just looking through the shots. I think this one is my favourite.

Atmosphere , action, scene its got the lot .
Its ok I suppose .LOL
I know you wont but ...
Burn the reeds a touch and the trees to the left of the image and it just 'pings' that little bit more.
You're a git too!

Agree with Mark's suggestions; different from images I've seen of this species - top shot.
Cheers,
Chris

Wondered what it would be like as a 16:9 or 16:7 with the lighter stuff at the top cropped out? Andrew

Lovely shot. Very Artie Morris. I hope to go there next year after the Rio Grande Valley birding Festival.

Very atmospheric Danny. Nicely done.
I hate to have to agree with Mark D, but on this occasion he has made a valid suggestion.
Cheers

PS.There are not so many puffins in the Bosque area!! (Check your email and all will become clear !)

very nice danny. great atmosphere. was wondering what it would look like also in more of a pano format . really like the overall sepia tones.

Great as it is, but I agree with Mark that it would also work well with a tight panoramic crop.

Hi matey...
As you said on the phone....Bosque is a cracking place. I know you would come up with a smashing shot but didn't expect this. Just stunning and the atmosphere is breathtaking. Panoramic crop would also work out fine but in the meantime I'll just enjoy this one.
BTW forgot to ask..How did you survive the long flight without a fag?

I can only echo much of the above. Top shot with great atmosphere. The bird taking off in the right third makes it for me.

I reckon a bit more pano (off top) but superb stuff as it is.

Very nice indeed. For me it works both as it is and as a pano.

That Davies fellow might just be right But I still hate him.
All I have done is crop the top which I agree works much better and to darken the blacks I just did it in curves.
Hello Steve yes I bumped into Artie Morris while I was there and it was nice to have a chat.
Hello Ed yes that was a long time to not have a smoke and I took some patches with me but they didn't work. Next time I will just lick them.
Thanks Everyone.

Just drifting over from the Avian Gallery, Danny. Post the pano version over there! This is gorgeous.

Hi Danny - I love both versions equally. I'm looking at the glow or halo around some of the birds - is this all due to the backlighting or is it maybe a little oversharpened?
Posted by Ian Haskell on December 1, 2010 at 7:05 PM
The second version simplifies the composition, but overall prefer the first.

Like the second Danny... it may be my tired eyes but it looks like it could do with a slight CW rotation (gosh all these abbreviations)... chewing gum works... or give up
Glad you had a good trip

Stunning shot. Isn't Bosque del Apache something special, we keep going back. Did you try the world famous greenchili burger at Buckhorn bar?
