Some good detail here, John, but the heavy crop does show. Are you going to let us see the full thing as well?

Thanks all.
David – Sorry no I can’t ! The reason is simple. I have a folder for Water rail, and within that sub folders for various categories such as “on ice”, “Himley”, “with juncus” etc etc and one called “Rubbish”.
It,s in this folder that all the cockups like the bird being too close, and parts of the bird cut off etc, are saved.. These are then partially cropped and saved as such in case anyone wants just a head shot or something, Usually its about all I can get out of them.I don’t think I’ve ever intentionally done a close up on waterrail. I don’t see any problem with saving bad shots cropped at all if something can be salvaged out of them. Obviousley OOF stuff etc is binned.
With so many files on my crap system it saves a bit of space too. The one here is the already cropped original out of the folder with the canvas included to give you an idea of what size the original would have been in the frame. I think you will agree it couldn’t really have been used any other way.
Hope that answers your question.
Cheers

Good head study John and an interesting method of saving space on the Hard Drive.

Ditto Marks comments, but not keen on big crops.
