Brambling
1D Mk iv, 600mm f4, 1/2000s, f4.5, iso 400. Cropped to vertical.

This is a new species for me and they had been giving me the runaround for a couple of weeks. I was pleasantly surprised when this one turned up in my garden today. I don't usually like head-on shots, but in this case, I liked the moment of "connection" after the chase. I also like the funky head shape!

Wasn't he a member of the stray cats? Lovely shot, still waiting for some of these at my feed station, fingers crossed.

We had some on my feeders here in South Wales a few years ago, beautiful birds

This is a brilliant shot, it looks like it has a hat on
Well captured.

Technically spot on Ian. Good viewpoint and the highlights are well controlled. Background is interestingly graduated and you have captured the raised feathers on the top of the bird well, giving the humorous aspect to the image. However, like Karen, I don't like 'face on' shots of small birds and this one doesn't do it for me.

Realy like the high forhead look this bird is giving and again that slate blue background adds so much. :toast:

Ian

A cracking shot enhanced by that fantastic background plus the snow on the beak.
