I want to see some of the great clouds we always get to see in our backyard. B/W or Color. Lets see them.

Sunset near the Fiery Furnace

I asked these clouds to circle around the rock I was photographing and they obliged!

Bret and Grant, those are both great starts to this month's topic. :toast:
This was easily my favorite of this year for clouds.

This one is from a few years ago. I got home from work one fall evening and the sky was turning bright orange. I grabbed my camera, ran to the field was behind my place, and shot what I could until the light faded about 5 minutes later. This is slightly DEsaturated!

I like it when the clouds come down low!

Morris, I love that shot, but I almost recognize that hill and it's driving me crazy. Where is that?
Posted by Bret Edge on December 9, 2010 at 11:21 PM
Wow, Morris - if your photo doesn't show up on the front page next month I'll be REALLY surprised. Outstanding!

Great start everyone! Morris, off the hook!

Here's one from a couple years ago, an awesome sunrise in the Snowy Range of southern Wyoming. I'd like a few more mornings like that one!

Thanks, Guys. :wavey:
Judging by the entries so far, this is going to be another stellar month of posts!

Jackson, this hill is a few miles north of Debeque, Colorado near Grand Junction on County Road 204.

Another from Grand Junction at Monument Canyon, May 2008. I definitely need to go back to the raw and redo this, I was't as versed in PS back then.

The looming overhead cloud up in the canyon rim was wild to see, almost looks like it doesn't belong!

This is a sunrise shot at a section of the Laramie River taken in SE Wyoming. Had a little extra bonus of fog rising from the river. Great shots everyone :toast:

Holy crap, Mel - that's one of the finest Grand Canyon photos I've seen in a while. Spectacular!

This was taken on Nov 30 near Santa Monica, CA

Sweet shots so far! Morris - Love that cotton candy!!!

Here's a funky cloud sunset from Ridgway several years ago.

Great big sky, Jack. I like the color variations from top to bottom.

"Any Moment" I thought I was about to be swept away as this storm came down the Teton Valley near Antelope Flats.

All are great but I really like Jacks shot of Rideway, it has it all. Storm clouds, rain, sun, and even a rainbow. This was south of Franktown looking east.

This is a three image stitch I captured last January. I would love to forget how cold it was that morning. Here is a link to a larger version:

This has been one of my favorite monthly themes due to the excellent work presented.
Sunset over the Sleeping Ute Mountain just a few miles southwest of my home.

Morning moonset over the Stansbury Mts, Utah. Great images everyone, can't wait to see more.

Some really awesome stuff. You guys want to make this tough for me again dont you?

Thought I would add to the fun. Here is a shot I took looking over some fishing boats one morning in Bali in October.

Mammatus clouds over our house at sunset. As violent as the atmosphere obviously was, we didn't get a breath of wind or drop of rain.
Posted by Todd Caudle on December 27, 2010 at 11:18 PM
Bummer, what a great topic, and I don't have any decent cloud photos. :frown:
Posted by Amy Lindsey on December 28, 2010 at 12:46 PM
Striated updraft base (on a tornadic supercell), somewhere in Nebraska during a storm chase. Sorry about the quality- it's from (eek!) slide film back in the day.

And my all-time favorite mothership near Fort Supply, OK. This one was taken on actual 35mm film in 2000/2001. Note the telephone poles for perspective. This thing stretched for more than 100 miles and knocked out power to several states. It sure was fun to chase!
