This photo was taken a long ways from 'Big Sky Country', but I guess since I'm the one who took it, perhaps I ought to post it here???
On a recent trip to SE Alaska, I admired the the boughs of this cedar tree from out my upper-story window one morning, and decided to see if I could capture its fashionable form. It was Very subdued cloudy/foggy morning light, taken at 1/10 sec f/6.7 ISO 400 --probably using the window frame as a tripod. 100mm with the 70-300 on a Nikon D300s.
Looking for comments - how well (or not) I managed to portray those graceful swirls, what might make the photo more appealing, etc etc.
I can see why you were attracted to this. All the light foiage seems to keep taking my eye into the center where the bare trunk/branches are. I would try a little tighter crop on the top and bottom.

I also see why you were attracted this tree, but this may be one of those instances where what you see/feel just doesn't translate as well into a photograph. My eye also goes right to the bare branch, and I think that's partially due to the rather heavy handed vignette that was applied. There appear to be some cloning artifacts in the upper left quadrant, as well.
Sorry I couldn't be more positive.

Thanks for your comments, no need to worry about negative. I did say how well (or not)! Don't believe I did any cloning in the upper left, but I'll go back and check. It might be more of the same "swirls". I'll post a link to an edited version when I get it done. Thanks again! Linnet
