I was having a slow day trying to capture flying ducks at San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary so I set up where some small birds were dancing about in the bushes. Being new to avian photography and bird identification, I researched at home and I think it is a Wrentit. I could sure use some confirmation or ID. Thanks

Looks like a Wrentit to me but I don't have any first hand experience with these cool little birds.

Isn't this a Bushtit female?

Mia, You've got me. I totally forgot that there are two "tits" out there. Bushtit it is. My initial reaction when I saw the image was that it sure looks a lot like one of the Thornbills of Australia. Cool little birds taht have thsi same look. Someday I'll get back out west and study these little brown arid land birds!

Wrentit shows a pale iris like female bushtit. They can be hard to distinguish in photos. Bushtits are virtually always part of a flock, while Wrentits tend to be solitary or in pairs.
