Hi all,

I am off to Speyside for a week over Easter. The first part of the week will mainly be wildlife watching with friends but in the second half I intend to spend four days doing photography.

I know the area reasonably well from a wildlife viewing point of view but would appreciate any tips or sites for photography. Species I am particularly interested in include:

Ptarmigan, Red Grouse, Crested Tit, Goldeneye, Dipper, Red Deer and Mountain Hare.

Any help gratefully received.

Best wishes

Paul

Hi Paul,
I suggest buying Mike Lanes, where to photograph wildlife book.
Its got lots of locations and many are in Scotland. tell you every detail including what length Lenses are required.

Hi Brian

Yep I have it - great book with some very valuable information.

I just wondered if anybody here had any up to date info or anything in addition.

Many thanks

Easter's an awfull time for photographing red deer. They're in their worst condition at the moment. Hinds are well bloated from pregnancy and stags are looking thin and rakish.

Most of the estates up there have good numbers of black cock, maybe try giving some of the keepers/ managers a phone, and ask for any details..........most are willing to show-off what their estate has to offer.

Cheers,
John
