This has to be one of my favorite portrait images of the year if not all time. I wished I had little more room on the right, but I'm just glad to have gotten it...this is full frame. They sure are cute when there young
I was hoping he would look back at me, but he never did...he had his eye on a doe in the distance. I was really glad to have this opportunity in such nice light. It's nice when the lighting and subject cooperate for such a shot.
All were shot with a Canon 7D and the Canon 500 f4.5 or Sigma 120-300 lens.
Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
Thanks,

Nice stuff, Vincent! I especially like 4, 5, and 6. BTW, your numbering is off. You've got two number 4's. I like them both.

Nice set, with my preference to #5&6. I might be inlined to crop the topmost lighter reflection off of ram image #6, and clone the piece of grass by the left horn tip.

You are right, that little guy is very cute. I tried to get a good shot of one but never got one to cooperate like you did. Great portrait.

Excellent series! Your favorite is my favorite, as well.
I like the slightly staggered antlers in #7, too. The last four appear to be underexposed to one degree or another (see your histogram).
Discussion
20 repliesI look forward to photographing during this month more than any other of the year.
This whitetail buck appears to be pretty young for having such a good size rack. Hopefully, I will get the opportunity to see him mature.
This is one of the better muley bucks I've seen this year.
I like how this Ram was so focused on me with such a static stance. Kind of makes me think he wasn't too happy that I was there

The lake in the background gave this one an interesting look.

Repost of #4 - Exposure adjustment. I like how the falling snow is more apparent in this image after the correction.
