I cannot put into words the beauty of Gods handiwork...way down there in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains/"Blood of Christ Mountains". Said it before, so I'll say it again...There's not another place in Colorado I would rather watch a sunset. The overwhelming warm colors just blow me away, just ask Stan Rose.

I climbed Point 12,540 on Monday; a spot Ive been spying for about a year. It's not a ranked peak, just a spot that appeared to have a nice view from all of my meticulous research. It's a view south into the South Crestone and north into the North Crestone. For those of you that know this area....need I say more? Mount Adams, Kit Carson, Venable.

I need your help picking 4 images to make my site.

Feedback appraciated

2, 3 and 4 are by far the easy picks for me. What amazing color and clouds (especially on #4!!!). I also like the unique comp of #5. A few of the others look a little yellow/greenish on the color balance but they also have nice comps.

#3 and #5 are the ones that caught my eyes the most. They are very nice.

No way I'm even attempting to pick just four. Those are amazing, Kane. Do you have a color version of #6 (the only number missing)?

These are all compelling images, but #3 sticks out for me. Everything comes together so well and the image has a lot of elements that keep me interested.

#2, 3 and 5 are all awesome man. Your killing me man... work got in the way of another one for me. =) Glad you had such amazing conditions. :toast:

What exquisite light! WOW! :toast:
I won't even try to pick a favorite.

Hi Todd,

I submitted a #6 for you in color. Thanks for the little push to make this one happen. I think it's better than the B&W. For whatever reason I'm alway feeling compelled to include a B&W image.

2,3,4...why don't we have a "bow down" smilie? Breath-taking images!

I like 4 best, followed by 3, followed by 7, followed by 5. The first three I listed are all really nice but since they're all pretty similar, I personally would try to narrow it down to just one of those. I always prefer sites that only show their very best images (unless it's a stock site). I think it gives more of an impact to show one breathtaking shot after another, with no really similar shots. I know it's hard to narrow them down, as I need to go through my own site and eliminate some shots.

EPIC!!! First off, I feel obligated to mention that these photos (or at least one of them which I checked) have a custom color profile embedded, which at least for me is throwing off the colors to a great extent. For example, some of those wild sunset shots have a very different color than the thumbnails (which don't have embedded color profiles). In #4 in particular, I much prefer the more neutral colors I'm seeing in the thumbnails, while the large image looks like it has an extreme red/magenta tint, at least on my screen. It's always best to convert your images to sRGB profile and embed that when saving images for the web, to ensure consistent colors on all computers.

Anyways, you definitely scored big on this sunset! #3 and 4 are particularly stunning. I think I like the comp in #3 better... the foreground is more "open" to the eye, and leads you in to the scene better.

My favorite though has to be #5 due to the incredible clarity of light, and the color contrasts of the warm orange mountains with the cool blue sky and white snow.

Amazing!

WOW--just sick, Kane, congrats onsuch a successful shoot! Picking a fav is just nuts, but ill go with 3, 5, 9--no, its just nuts--ill go with all of them

These are just fantastic! Mine in order of preference: #5, #4 the detail in the foreground snow makes this one., #7, #10 love the light, a bit different color. Great work.

5 and then 4, 9, 2. You must have been in sensory overload up there that evening.
I like more the red/pink tones in some of the others like 3&7 but find the foreground rocks too dominant as they are not making good leading lines.

These are amazing, Kane! I'll second Jack's comments; colors were looking weird for me in Firefox, but much better in IE. I really like 3, 5 and the Kit Carson B&W. Of the yellower sequence, my favorites are 2 and 9, with a slight edge to 9.
Posted by Grant Collier on December 17, 2010 at 12:40 PM
Jack's correct. I looked at these again in Firefox w/ color management enabled and they look much better! I might even let you keep more than two this time. However, 1,2,4,6,8,9,10 look a bit yellowy and too red & magenta. It seems like your processing was different/better with 3,5,&7. I might go back and redo the rest with the same processing.

#4 is my favorite! Incredible! The rest are tied for a very close second.

They're all great, but #4 does it for me! Good work!

I can't do it! I can't pick a favorite! I'll take them all!

How incredible to have been up there, the view must have been humbling...

Even though some are similar, it's #'s 2, 3, 4 & 5 that I favor.
What an evening! No wonder you felt blessed.
But, why the opRGB (aka Adobe RGB) color space?
I think that most (all?) monitors would see sRGB color space more accurately.

Wow, these are great, hard to pick a favorite. Well done.

Wow, thanks for all the excellent feedback.

Color management is something I need to study. I hate learning this kind of stuff however I do know it's very important. It's not the first time me not knowing color management has come back to nip me in the butt.

Yeah Kane, these are absolutley incredible. Fantastic reward for your hard work. :toast:

Tough to pick a favorite, but 2-7 all resonate with me, with 4 and 5 standing just above those. Incredible work, Kane!

Great set, I really like the first B&W!
