I'm sure some of us, at least, if not most of us, have seen the images of the Cleveland lighthouse in the last few days, covered with mostly ice. If not, check out this video from the All Things Cleveland web site.

Hopefully at least one of our members that lives in the Cleveland area will be able to get a few images and share with us??

Got this video today from my cousins who are there! ack!
Sadly, they are not photographgers, so I have no images to share.
Sure glad I'm in California now - too many memories of the freezing Ohio winters as a kid.
My condolenses to those still there!

Glad I don't have the job of cleaning that up. I don't think the light is going to shine for a while.

I went down yesterday to take some images of the encapsulated light house.

It was treacherous. Everything was a sheet of glass/ice. Could have done better with ice skates.

DIdn't have much time to post process but, if you are interested in seeing a lot of duplication:

Fantastic series, Joseph! My favorite one is where all the seagulls are flying around the lighthouse.

Thanks for sharing the images with us! :wavey:

Tony:

Thanks for the critique.

I have added an image of the light house from June!! What a comparison!!

Glad you enjoyed them.

What a difference indeed! Fantastic how the ice followed the lines and details of the lighthouse. Also excellent details in the ice around the shoreline, Joseph.

I was down there yesterday (12/29/10) and it is amazing how quickly the ice formations are starting to melt.

The grand formations along the shore are hit first. I think with the current weather outlook that the lighthouse will lose its cover by the week end.

With a warm-up predicted this weekend, I think you're right, Joseph. I know we may very well get close to 50° tomorrow before it starts cooling back down. We haven't even had any ice on Lake Michigan this winter, unlike last year at this time.
