Here's my attempts at photographing the eclipse. I'd been eyeing a 200-500 Tamron and the eclipse gave me a good excuse to finally get one. This one's a single exposure. I think the moon appears extra red because of the Denver pollution. I only pushed the Vibrance +12 and the Saturation +2.

I tried to do something a little different here. While the moon was only half-eclipsed, I exposed for the dark, red part of the moon and let the bright part get way overblown. I did "cheat" just a bit here and moved the star in the lower left to the right, so I could crop the image w/out cropping out the star.

Grant, I'm sure glad our part of Denver isn't as polluted as yours.
I think you probably had that new tele pointed at mars.

Glad you pushed the ISO to get those cool stars. Looks a wee bit oversaturated compared to all the other ones I've seen posted.

I like the second image, it's uniquely done. If only we had the technology to move actual stars as easily as we can move images of them in Photoshop.

Nice job Grant. I shot with the Tamron 200-500 for quite a few years and for the price it served me well.

I kinda like the deep red. The umbra effect in #2 is interesting.
Wish I'd known you were eying the Tamron, now that I have the Canon 100-400, I'm thinking I'll sell my Tamron 200-500.

Nice shot Grant. Making me wish I had a real telephoto lens. =)
