Second time lucky
This morning looking over Garden of the Gods.

Yesterday was fairly epic, too. I've got dozens upon dozens of images to work up, but don't have time til next week. Here's a teaser from yesterday evening. I had to compress it quite a bit, and I opted for a square crop (says Capt. Obvious).

Merry Christmas, everybody! :toast:

You gotta call me next time you head up there. You alwyas have great luck with conditions.

Look great. I like the square crop on #2 and woudl be willing to give it a run as a BW if you let me.

Knock yourself out, Rich!

Here's one from yesterday morning.

I was going to say that the first one is awesome, then I saw the second... now that is a piece of art!!!

And one more from this morning.

Both images are very nice. The first must give you a smile to catch the clouds, fog and morning light like that. The hoar frost makes for a nice effect with the ridge layers in the second.

Very Nice!

I especially like #2

Lucky? Ha! You're Cloudman so you have a inside info.
Great set! I'm guessing 2 & 3 were taken from RRR.

Great stuff, Todd! Those layers of cloud and slope in #2 are really appealing. Am I correct (never been to GoG) that those are the Camels just emerging from the fog in #1?

Excellent series!
I like 'em all, but #2 is just exceptional!! One of your best (..and that's sayin' a lot).
Merry Christmas, amigo!

Todd, to carry on the tradition, I like #2 the best here - why you ask? The layering effect you have here is great, because it carries your eye from top down, across the image, making use of the entirety of it; a very desirable thing. Also, the lens you used has a flattening effect, so it is very 2D, another abstraction that is super cool. Nice work, man. Are you going to print any of these??? (You know what I'm talking about)

I was hoping it would work out for you--glad it did!! I also like #2 the best. Now, just send some of that cloudman luck my way

Dang Todd. I'm gonna have to put a tracking device on you now that you're in town. I was en-route to the Garden from Rockrimmon and thought there was no way it would be in the clear at sunrise from what I could see on the top of Allegheny. I turned back and headed up to the top of Rockrimmon to shoot Pikes Peak above the fog and it rolled over me just as the alpenglow hit.

I went back down into Ute Valley and shot a few sheets as it cleared up. Had a new Fuji 400T to run through the paces.

This is a nice set. I'm digging the third with those wild lichen.

I watched this sunrise develop as I drove my son to his Drivers Ed class, commenting "Nice sunset, I should be out shooting! I knew you would be, thankfully! Great stuff!

I like #2 also, but #3 is a close second.

Merry Christmas to you too!

Todd: the square crop is totally epic and gorgeous. The colors and layering just keep your eyes on it waiting for something else to happen. But, alas, it is a static photo!

I also love the camel and moon shot. don't see too many of those in my parts. You have had too much fun shooting for the last couple of days!

Have a great holiday and let's see of you can top any of these past few days shots.

Beautiful images you've been cranking out Todd. Love the second one because of the layering effect. Well done.

I'm really lovin' the first one! I have never seen a Garden image like that... excluding your last post. #2 is rocking pretty hard as well.

#2 is easily my favorite, the detail is incredible! 1 is a close second. Looks like you were a bit late catching the total eclipse on #4
