Ansel Tribute
After a marathon Photoshop Session, I finally finished processing all the shots from Christmas Eve. Ill probably touch up the best ones, but since i need help deciding which are the best (help pick the top 2-3 ) that will have to wait a bit longer. Here's probably the shot Ill use as the 'official' tribute shot, since it comes closest to how i originally envisioned things. The rest of the story can be found on my website here (3 pages):
Tribute

OK, other than the one above, I'm not sure the ones that stand out to me are the ones you have in mind as tributes to AA. But here goes: In addition to the one you chose above, I really love the bottom two one on page 1 and the sixth one on page 2. The contrast between cool and warm tones in the first two is just awesome, and I am always drawn to strong diagonals. And the light is so dramatic in #6 on page 2. I wonder if the camera had been lowered just a little, so the cross cleared the mountain in #6 on page 2, how that would have looked?

But my favorite is the one you show above, and it is definitely Adams-esque. Not sure what I'd do to improve it - I really don't see anything I don't like! I even like the trees apparently falling inwards from the wide-angle upward-looking perspective, because they lead your eye upwards and add tension to the image. Very nice work, and a good job on processing!

Thanks, Erik! Yeah, i wish i had shot just slightly lower in that shot, partly i was trying to preserve the polygon formed by the fg graves, but mostly its just the result of taking 275 exposures in 2 hours (hardly an Anselesque strategy  )

Good point, that. But I bet if he were photographing today, he'd be 100% digital (if perhaps MF or LF digital), and he'd be taking a whole lot more exposures than he did back in the day. That said, he'd probably still take fewer shots than most of us and have more to show for them.

The entire package is awesome. I might lean toward looking southeast in B/W.

Stan, the entire collection is very, very nice. I think I like these the best though: 6th one on page 1, the 2nd and last one on page 2 and the pano on page 3 the best. Again, excellent work! :toast:
