Hello, I'm heading down to the Sacramento area Wednesday and will be there for a few days. Does anyone know where there is a reliable place to see/photograph yellow billed magpies? Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Hi, Dan - you might give the Sacramento NWR a call to ask:

They can probably put you in touch with local birders too.
Good luck - have fun!

Sacramento County in general is supposed to be the top CA county for finding them. You might just cruise some of the rural backroads. Seems like I usually see them along the road between the places I'm actually going to. The only place I've actually gone where I also photographed them was Pinnacles National Monument, quite a bit out of your way.

Dan,
You might try the Sacramento Audubon Chapter. Here is some contact information from their website that might be helpful.
For Birding Questions or status and distribution of wild birds, email to Sacramento Bird Group
